Hailing from the town of Sonora, CA, Julie Johnson is a multi-talented musician best known for her role as the bassist and vocalist for the beloved Modesto-based band, BluesBox Bayou Band. With a vibrant career spanning over 25 years, Julie has become a familiar face on the West Coast festival and dance party circuits, captivating audiences from Long Beach, CA, to Brookings, Oregon. Her impressive discography includes contributions to 8 CD recordings, showcasing her rock-steady bass riffs and dynamic vocal abilities.

In addition to her work with BluesBox Bayou Band, Julie is a proud member of The Gold Rush Balladeers, a Tuolumne County ensemble dedicated to preserving the authentic sounds of the California Gold Rush era. A classically trained guitarist since the age of 9, Julie’s musical journey has been rich and diverse, allowing her to master various instruments, including the bass guitar, guitar, banjo, and vocals.

Beyond her musical prowess, Julie’s warm and friendly demeanor endears her to fans and fellow musicians alike. When she steps onto the stage, often in her signature brimmed hat, audiences know that the band is ready to deliver an unforgettable performance.
